Hi Jennifer, I hadn’t commented in a while, so saying hello. Despite what a difficult experience you are going through again, you somehow manage to find and document and share the humanity in each and every person you come across. Sending love.

Hi Jennifer. Great seeing you. Of note, in the world of Car-t therapy, when someone spikes a temperature or gets neurotoxicity during the process, it is scary ( needs close medical attention) but also viewed as positive. The process is affecting your body and hopefully killing the cancer. No idea if that is true with your process, but a more positive perspective. Our thoughts are with you and the Ts.

Thank you for being so brave and trying this. It will help others to find a cure for this terrible disease. I lost one of my best friends to ovarian cancer. Perhaps you will be the one to find a cure. Hang in there, and enjoy the wedding

How frustrating that these providers have such extraordinary interest in documenting every detail and preventing liability and have so little interest in communicating with you and anticipating your needs. Some of the most difficult moments of my stem cell transplant were when I felt like I wasn’t being seen or acknowledged. I watched the Emma Thompson movie Wit while I was in the hospital, and it made me sob. Fortunately, most of my medical team was quite communicative and compassionate, but there were soul rending moments. I am hoping that as your trial progresses, they learn from experience and improve their processes and care for you. Of course, I’m also hoping for healing and relief.

I know it’s not a competition, but your hospital is way better-looking than mine. Hammersmith Hospital is a clutch of industrial-type buildings next to Wormwood Scrubs, one of London’s most notorious prisons. (I think both institutions share the same food catering.) Still, they’ve kept me alive for the last 20 months, so I’m not complaining. Your treatment sounded a bit brutal. I hope it gets easier — and of course works! People always tell us to “hang in there.” We should do more than that; we should walk, run, swim, dance, skate, and go hang-gliding! xxjb

Wishing you well. I read your post this Friday morning as my beloved is in hospital for monthly checkup on HER trial, which has gone well for six months. Earlier this week she had her bi-monthly scans... generally fine. There are a lot of science and many miracles out there. Hope we have left many on the table for you.
